Our Weekend....Road Trip

This weekend was great. Scott had the whole weekend off and yesterday we went to Tallulah Gorge which is about 45 mins from our house. It is like a mini grand canyon and it had a bunch of waterfalls.  Then we took a drive to north carolina, only an hour away from the gorge. We had a lot of fun.

There were lots of kayakers, I heard that they only allow people to kayak in the gorge and few times a year and yesterday was one of those days. Those people have to be crazy to go down those waterfalls!!
This was one of the trails. We hiked a little bit.

We then hiked down 620 steps to this suspension bridge. It hung just over the falls. The sign on the trailhead said that it was strenuous, but we went anyway. On the way down it was EASY....but then we had to come back up!  We were really tired. We did not choose to hike the rest of the 1,200 steps down to the base of the falls!

Hayleys Visit

Our Living Room

I love these pictures Hayley took of our backyard!

More photos to come soon!!

Updates

Ok its official...I suck at the blogging thing!  Anyway a lot has happened since Thanksgiving! We have been settling into our house nicely. We love it! We have slowly been getting it decorated and making it our own. It takes a long time considering we both work full time.
We moved in December 18th and Scotts parents and grandparents were out visiting for christmas so they were able to help us move in.
Since then we have had Hayley come and stay with us for a week in January. I was able to get the time off to spend 5 really fun days with her. She helped me paint my bathroom and we also went and spent the day in downtown atlanta. It was so much fun! But I miss her lots now that she is gone.
More recently we have had Scotts friends Chris and Curtis come and stay with us for a week. They just left last week. Scott also was able to get time off to spend with them! They did lots of video game playing together...you know...guy stuff...Scott really enjoyed having them here.
In the past few months we have also celebrated our 2 year wedding anniversary  (I can't believe we have already been married 2 years) Scotts 29th birthday and my 24th birthday.

Not much else is going on...we are both enjoying our jobs. I have just started working full time with the toddlers on Monday...not doing the afterschool kids anymore. The toddlers are cute, but a handful sometimes!  Today was our valentines party, after their naptime they got to eat cupcakes and fruit and cheetoes.....they were a big mess when they were done!  I can't think of any cute funny stories right now about the toddlers, but I do have a funny one about the afterschoolers. I still get them off the bus when they arrive from school and take them outside until the other teacher gets there, but while I was lining them up yesterday they were all talking to me at once....then when I got them quieted down this one boy comes up to me and when he finally got my attention this was how the conversation went:

"Hey Ms. Jenny all the other people got to talk to you except me!"
"Ok........"
"So, I don't like our governor he is trying to raise the taxes."
Then he turned around and walked away...so random!

Anyway Scott is enjoying his job and I am enjoying him working there too because we get good furniture!!  Last night we bought an awesome armchair! I have always wanted one like it to curl up in and read a book!!

We are missing everyone a lot!   I am going to Cali at the end of April for Vanessas wedding, but Scott can't get the time off work to go. :  (
But I am looking forward to seeing everyone!

Thanksgiving

We celebrated Thanksgiving this year with Stef, Jimmy and the kids. It was a nice thanksgiving, but we missed everyone!  It was a fun experience for Stef and I since we cooked our first thanksgiving meal. It was scary, gross and fun all at the same time and in the end it turned out really really well! We bought a 20 lb turkey for the 4 of us and the kids, needless to say we had a lot of leftovers!!!! It was scary cause we had never cooked a turkey before....it was gross cause we had to stick our hands inside and get out all the guts....it was fun cause the turkey was sliding all over the place and we had no clue what we were doing!!  It all tasted really good though!!!  We had our turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, yorkshire pudding, green bean casserole, gravy, and I am probably leaving something out....we had A LOT of food!

Here are some photos of Stef and I and the turkey who we affectionatly named Henrietta... (after Hunter learned that we named the turkey he did not want to eat her)

Ewww the neck!!!
Viola...a finished turkey!
Scott played cards with the kids while we cooked
Our spread...after we were done....see all the leftovers!!!
We also took pictures in Stef and Jimmys backyard for our christmas cards! It was nice to have the beautiful golden fall leaves for a backdrop.

SORRY!!!!

Hi!!!! I am finally back! Sooooo sorry that I have not updated the blog in a while....since November!!  I sent out christmas cards to everyone telling you all to look at our blog and then all I had on there was a dumb blog about alpacas!   If I were you all I would be annoyed with me!  Anyway so reasons that I have not updated the blog in a long time: (Ok not reasons...excuses)

3. Our internet was not up
4. We got our internet up and then it went down
5. Christmas

7. I was reading a good book
8. I was sleeping
9. I was procrastinating
10. Hayley was here
11. I was painting my bathroom
12. Did I mention I was procratinating?

So anyway now I am going to blog about the stuff that has been going on lately!

I LOVE ALPACAS!

On the way to Stef and Jimmys house there is an alpaca farm (if you don't know what alpacas are they are brothers to the llama) I think they are so cool.
We were watching TV just now and a commercial came on for IloveAlpacas.com.  It was THE funniest commercial I have ever seen!  Ok so I stop laughing long enough to check out the website only to find the funniest website ever!!

Here are a few inserts from the website:

The motto: "I love Alpacas...and so will you."

"The pleasure of owning the beautiful and gentle alpaca is a reward in itself"

"The prospect of enjoying shared family activities with this very huggable animal while reaping the financial rewards of owning and breeding alpacas increases the pleasure many times over."

Shared family activities?? What can you do with an alpaca?

"Friendly and trainable yet hardy and tough, the alpaca is truly an investment you can hug. Have you ever hugged your stocks? "  Well have you?

For some more laughs check out the website for yourself: ILoveAlpacas.com

The cutest kiddos ever!

My niece and nephews are the cutest kids ever! I love having them here, they bring us so much joy and laughter.  I thought I would share a some of that with you all!

On Saturday after house hunting Stef and I came back to their house to a "surprise". Haley and Hunter had set up a show for us!!

They had all of the stuffed animals and some toys set out on the foyer steps as the audience (they were even set up in catergories like forest animals, sea animals, farm animals...etc) Check out Stefs blog for a funny story about naming the animals.

Then Hunter had a bunch of toys set up as drums. He was the drummer while Haley was the singer.  Haley made up this great song called "Don't be Afraid" and when she was half way through it Hunter yelled "Wait! We have to start over, I need to get another drum!"  Haley was a little frustrated because her song was interrupted! LOL!

Then after Haley finished two other songs (with a few more interruptions from Hunter...he needed more animals for the audience..) then it was Hunters turn to sing...he sang a song all about Thomas (what else....he is in LOVE with Thomas the Tank Engine) then when that was done with lots of interruptions by the barking Kiwi the dog, they sang together for the grand finale! They are so cute!

We are doing Thanksgiving dinner this year with Stef Jimmy and the kids and Stef and I are cooking the whole dinner for the first time together. We are a little nervous about the turkey....but how hard can it be! Anyway we bought our turkey the other day....a 20 pounder....I think we will have lots of leftovers.  So anyway I decide that we should give the turkey a name....Stef came up with Henrietta.  We brought the turkey in and told the kids "Hey meet Henrietta the Turkey!"  Later Stef called me and said that Hunter does not want to eat his new friend Henrietta and that he keeps opening the fridge to check on her!  Oops! I guess it wasn't such a good idea to name the turkey!

And Jonah is such a cutie all the time!  He is so fun to just sit and play with! Last night we watched as he sneaked into Haleys room (where he is not allowed) and sat in amongst all her Littlest Pet shop toys and played with them and sucked on their heads....which if Haley would have seen she would have had a fit!  Right now he thinks that all animals are dogs and go "woof".  I tried showing him a cat and saying "meow" and he just looked at me like there was something wrong with me and said "woof".
